Presentation: MLOps and the Online Safety Bill

A presentation discussing the results of a report for a UK government regulator to interview and analyse how online platforms are using MLOps and governance to help operate their AI solutions.

This is a video of a presentation about the UK’s online safety bill. This places new burdens on social media companies to moderate content to keep the public safe. This video discusses how platforms are using MLOps to help operate AI solutions that allow them to scale and prevent hundreds of violating posts from being published every second.

Phil Winder shares experiences of Winder.AI’s MLOps consulting experience at a variety of large and small organizations.

The UK government’s communications regulator, Ofcom, commissioned Winder.AI to produce a report to improve their understanding of the end-to-end AI governance processes that support the creation and deployment of automated content classifiers used in moderating online content. Together we interviewed social media platforms and moderation technology vendors to ask them about the tools, technologies and processes that are often referred to as machine learning operations (MLOps).

In this presentation, I will distil the findings of the report and share some of the insights that we gained from the interviews. This presentation will be of interest to anyone who is interested in online safety or how the industry is using MLOps to help operate their AI solutions.
